This large sculpture celebrates the life and history of the African-American suffragist, Naomi Bowman Talbert Anderson, who was born in Michigan City, Indiana in 1843.

The sculpture installation symbolizes women taking action throughout history, and fills a large green space near a well travelled part of the city. The hand-cut large symbols are arranged as a walkable experience and concludes with a group of protesters who conceptually suggest "women of steel".

Anderson was a poet, writer, activist, and public speaker who addressed the experience of Black women and their right to vote. In 1869, Anderson gave a fiery, controversial speech for women's suffrage at the first Women's Rights Conference held in Chicago.
