Avian Station is an interactive permanent steel sculpture which shares the language and function of architecture. The sculpture/structure is a viewing deck where visitors climb a flight of stairs to look out over the prairie. The surfaces of the artwork hold a group of patterns with origins in Chinese, American Indian, and African-American cultures. The lower deck offers some covered shelter and uniquely framed views of the landscape. (more photos to come)
